So day one of the launch comes and I run to buy the BlackBerry PlayBook. I was so excited ever since they first announced it last year and gave a sneak peek behind a glass. So first thing I think of buying is a screen protector- check. Protective case (a cool business type) – check. A HDMI cable to watch movies in all its glory on my big HDTV- check. Then I look for a Dock that has HDMI out so that it doesn’t look lame laying down my brand new shiny tablet…..I can’t find one because the only one available now is the rapid charging dock. What a disappointment! Now lets look at the three most wanted Accessories…
Accessories are all the rave nowadays just as apps are; after all, apps and accessories is what made Apple a powerhouse. Without the cool accessories and all the Developers to include Auto makers supporting Apple, they would be nothing today. Having said that lets take a look at three accessories we would like to see for our beloved PlayBook Tablet.
1. BlackBerry Keyboard
Back in May There was a leak of a Bluetooth BlackBerry Keyboard with a built in touch pad. However, it hasn’t been released and we’re still waiting for it. In the mean time there are already several Bluetooth Keyboards and even mice supported by the PlayBook. The PlayBook is such a awesome powerful device it pretty much will work with any Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse to include Apple’s. As for me I am anxiously waiting for the release of this new product- stay tuned for a later Review once it finally arrives.
2. GPS Car Dock
This one is a no brainer as the PlayBook has the perfect screen size for just about anything. It’s a shame RIM has not released a full function Turn-By-Turn Voice guided Navigation because a Car Dock is a no brainer. It would be even better if you can use it with only the GPS radios- meaning no data usage needed, the way Google has managed with Honeycomb. Hint, hint RIM…
3. Full Function Dock
This is what I call the envy of the other tablets, a Tablet Dock that has it all: Built in Full size USB, Full size HDMI out and SD card support so we can transfer photos to the PlayBook. There is currently a PlayBook Dock in the market but it has no other function other than to charge the tablet (seen above). I would like to add that if they modified the bridge to work the phone as a remote for the PlayBook while it is docked and you’re watching a movie, it would be awesome. However, we are dreamers and here’s hoping RIM actually builds this dream, in the mean time…lets keep our fingers crossed they build these awesome accessories.
