The classic BrickBreaker game has made its way onto every BlackBerry smartphone dating back to the 4.0 OS. If you have recently picked up a PlayBook tablet upon going into the games tab you’ll notice BrickBreaker doesn’t come preloaded onto this Berry. Instead, we get Need for Speed and Tetris, two great game by the way but it just isn’t what we’re used to seeing on BlackBerry devices.
Throughout my years as a BlackBerry user not many games have made their way onto my device but BrickBreaker is one that certainly helps kill time and gets me through the most boring situations ever (waiting rooms, class, last 15 minutes of work). I was sad to see that BrickBreaker has not been optimized for the PlayBook as of yet so I decided to hit the App World to see what I could find.
PlayBook users seeking a BrickBreaker -like experience can download Brics and or BrickBuster.
Brics– A basic “breakout” style game for BlackBerry® PlayBook™. 15 levels, 3 lives… can you do it?
BrickBuster– A simple Breakout clone. Simply slide your finger across the screen to control the paddle and deflect the ball to hit the bricks. Remove all the bricks to advance to the next level. If the ball hits the bottom of the screen, you lose a life. When you run out of lives, the game is over.
These games aren’t exactly “it” but will suffice until we get the real thing, if and when it happens.
