Garmin For BlackBerry

According to Adam Hwang over at the Digitimes, Asustek has managed to get exclusive licensing from Garmin to put the popular navigation software on the back of Android handsets as long as they have the Garmin Navigation trademark stamped on the back.

Asus is also going to launch the Garmin Navigation software on the BlackBerry App World, and iPhone App Store, for the low low price of: FREE.  I wouldn’t expect to see Garmin on App World until 2011 with Asus trying to get their new Android powered phone featuring the Garmin Navigation out yet this year.

Update: Garmin has issued a correction to the DigiTimes article.  Note the last sentence.

It is possible that we will offer navigation apps on Apple and Blackberry devices, but we haven’t announced when they will be available or how much those apps will cost. They will not be free.
