As soon as they announced the Bold Touch 99xx line I posted a hardware/software breakdown. One thing I noticed is that the Bold 9900/9930 will be equipped with a 5.0 MP camera, supporting 720p HD video recording and right away the phrase “PlayBook camera” to mind. Well folks, my thoughts were right because it is confirmed that the Bold Touch 99xx is going to be equipped with a 5.0 MP ALL-focus camera, supporting 720p HD video recording. Don’t belive me? Check Kevin’s vid here (jump to around 11:45).

The setting to the continuous Autofucus – Single shot/ Off is eliminated, leaving us with an ALL-focus 5.0 MP HD camera. The difference however between the new Bold 99 and the PlayBook camera is the recording has been downsized to 720p whereas the PlayBook supports full 1080p video recording.

So in sum, the Bold 9780, Style 9670, and Torch 9800, 5.0 mp camera is NOT the same camera that the all new Bold Touch 9900/9930 is going to come with. Again, expect a 5.0 MP ALL-focus camera, supporting 720p HD video recording.
