‘Blackpad.com’ Secured by RIM

Earlier today MobileCrunch  posted that RIM recently took over rights to the domain name “BlackPad.com”.  The fact is Research In Motion owns over 4,000+ registered domain names already, so we’re curious as to what this domain will be used for.  Research In Motions has the right to protect their Intellectual Property, they’ve even been known to ask domain registrars and ICANN to hand over domain names from their owners if they are even remotely related to BlackBerry. Again, with RIM owning domain names such as BlackBerry9780.com, BlackBerry9800.com, we’re unsure as to what this BlackPad.com is going to be used for. It can be guessed that RIM wants to protect their rights, and intellectual property.
If you’re unfamiliar with intellectual property, Business Dictionary defines it as- Documented or undocumented knowledge, creative ideas, or expressions of human mind that have commercial (monetary) value and are protectable under copyright, patent, servicemark, trademark, or trade secret laws from imitation, infringement, and dilution. Intellectual property includes brand names, discoveries, formulas, inventions, know how, registered designs, software, and works of artistic, literary, or musical nature. It is one of the most readily tradable property in the internet (digital) marketplace.

What do you think about the BlackPad? Will you be interested in a RIM tablet IF it ever gets launched into the wild? Let us know!
