In an official press release, BlackBerry announced the Porsche Design P’9983 will go on sale around the World through Porsche Design stores, select carriers and retailers from the beginning of October 2014.

The Porsche Design BlackBerry P’9983 was unveiled in Dubai today which followed by a blog post by INSIDE BlackBerry and a launch video on YouTube. The Porsche Design BlackBerry will also come with aftermarket handcrafted leather backdoors made from fine Italian leather that are available in the colors: Yellow, Blue Green, Dark Brown, Pomegranate, Paloma Grey, Salsa, Blue and Orange. That’s something I didn’t think I’d expect.

BlackBerry P'9983 spec sheet

The basic specs of the device include Dual Core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB Flash, Removable microSD memory card—slot (Up to 128 GB), USB 2.0, Micro HDMI and 2100 mAH removable battery. If anything, this is literally the Q10 wrapped in a premium Porsche Design P’9983 build. However, for the folks that will be purchasing this device are most likely people that aren’t too fussed about the specs. Funny there is no mention of OS 10.3 being present on this device, but I think it’s safe to say that BlackBerry is saving that little bit of news for next week’s event.
