Welcome to Twitter for BlackBerry. The one thing I will say is that this app, in my opinion, is butt-kicking! It has a very smooth interface and awesome integration with almost any available aspect of the BlackBerry device itself. These are options that UberTwitter either doesn’t have, cannot have, or cannot perform without hiccups. Lets sign in!

Note: Unlike UberTwitter, Twitter for BlackBerry only allows you to sign in with one account at a time. Lets hope they get multiple account support at some point.

Scrolling through your normal timeline may be a bit confusing in regards to @ replies at first (especially if you come from UberTwitter where your replies are colored different). Twitter for BlackBerry on the other hand does not color code. Instead, the replies are indicated by that little blue tab in the top right corner, so be on the lookout for those, or just go to your @ reply window .

The next tab on the tool bar is lists. Now these can be very useful, especially if you have many followers/friends with common interests. Lets say you know many bloggers, or many BlackBerry lovers, you can make a list and add all the people you feel fit into that category. This is the same as the feature from the twitter main page on the PC.

Now we get into some of the exclusive features of Twitter for BlackBerry. Twitter for BlackBerry integrates your DM’s (Direct Messages) with your stock messages application. I think this is cool to be able to access them from either inside or out of the application. You can reply to them just as quick and easy. And no need to worry if you’re big on your privacy because you can toggle this option on/off ;D.

Note: You may notice I have Tweet refresh in background un-checked. Why you ask? Because if the application is running in the background, it eats away at your battery without you knowing. Always close out BlackBerry apps when not using then, and if you can, un-check this and similar options to conserve battery

Next option is stalker friendly. Want to find someone and believe they are listed by their government issued name? Just type it into the search and await your results! Al Roker is on suicide watch so I decided to check up on him. He’s fine, don’t worry!! Next is your standard search. This is used to find normal keywords in tweets. So lets say you see want to see what people all around the world are saying about BlackBerry. You just type in “blackberry” and hit search and it finds every tweet with the word blackberry in it. This search can also be narrowed or broadened based on distance. Not only does Twitter for BlackBerry keep you up to date with the current trending topics, but it also keeps you in tune with the recent ones as well, just in case you missed something!
`
This I will say again, Twitter has great integration with the BlackBerry device itself. Here you can visit a page from your stock browser and send it directly to Twitter. No need to go through the copy and paste steps used with UberTwitter. Just navigate through the menu and send either as a DM or as a normal tweet. One you get into the actual tweet window, Twitter for BlackBerry even offers to shorten the link for you because of the character limit. Thats right folks. You can even do the same when you take a picture. Send it directly to Twitter using the app. Now if you’ve had UberTwitter you know the option pops up for it as well. However, unless I am the only one who has had this happen, it always comes back with an error. You’d then have to back out of the picture, go into ubertwitter and try again. With Twitter for BlackBerry you get a speed boost. Even if the pictures are large it will be resized for optimum viewing on Twitpic.

Another cool option I see here in the app is the go to user option. With this you no longer have to scroll through your timeline or follow list to find someone quickly. Just begin to type in the username, and the same way it does for a regular tweet in which you tag someone, the Twitter for BlackBerry app seeks to auto-complete the username for you!

Last but not least we find one cool feature, along with the option for one common misconception about Twitter for BlackBerry. The first would be the check for personal information. This just asks you are you sure you want to send private info if you enter anything like a phone number or pin number. The other is the spell check. Plenty Twitter for BlackBerry users fail to realize that you can turn this off. With it on, the app will need everything to be spelled correctly for the tweet to send. However, with it off, it still indicates when the word is spelled incorrectly without needing to be corrected before sending. This comes in hand for people like me who make up words QUITE OFTEN.

I don’t believe there is anything I missed, but if there is, please feel free to let me know! Overall, I’d give the Twitter for BlackBerry app a strong 4 out of 5 for its reliability (although others say otherwise), its smooth integration with the phone, simplecool & calm interface (if the colors of UberTwitter annoy you), and its speed in relation to stock apps such as the web browser and the camera.

Twitter for BlackBerry is supported by all countries EXCEPT China, all carriers, and is available for download from the BlackBerry App World.

This is my app review of Twitter for BlackBerry. I hope it helped! Stay tuned in to BlackBerry Empire on YouTube for the video review which is coming soon! Until next time, ninja vanish…!!
