The BlackBerry Cloud Strategy

One of the features I am personally looking forward to in BlackBerry 10 is their BlackBerry Cloud Strategy. BlackBerry has certainly addressed the situation of the high demand for Cloud services both at the consumer and enterprise level of the market. Rather than initially create their own Cloud service such as iCloud for iOS (Which turned up to be a big mess) RIM has hired “Cloud Specialists” to do this for them. Users will have the luxury to chose between elite Cloud Services which some will be baked into the next generation OS, BlackBerry 10 powered by QNX.

One big name added to the BlackBerry Cloud list is Box, which is scheduled to support deep integration within mobile and will be the standard as it will come native as a Cloud storage option for your use.  Another big name is DropBox, which have yet to announce a partnership with BlackBerry 10 but are working behind the scenes to bring DropBox to BlackBerry 10 which looking at the photo above, you can clearly see that Box and DropBox are deeply integrated within the OS.

For the Enterprise, earlier at BlackBerry World RIM announced that it will offer BlackBerry Service for Microsoft 365 which allows for a direct connection into the Microsoft Cloud. Good job on BlackBerry to have acquired this partnership transitioning into BB10 as the Bring Your Own Device “BYOD” business model is alive and well.

We’re still not sure that RIM isn’t going to at some point develop their own Cloud Service such as iCloud for iOS but for now, mobile users will have a choice of Cloud Services which will be deeply integrated into the OS. As RIM stated, its a tripple win situation with BlackBerry, its partners and users all benefiting in the long rum. So if you’re wondering how BlackBerry will handle the Cloud situation, this is their strategy for the meantime.
