A new carrier has been added to the list of BlackBerry PlayBook vendors. According to reports, the PlayBook may possibly make its way into Verizon outlets soon. N4bb spotted the scoop and has provided us with their source. A website called PlayBookWithoutLimits.com has surfaced, which apparently held registration for beta testing the BlackBerry PlayBook on Verizon. Registration has ended, but this note has been left behind.
“Thank you for your interest in the program. Please note this is an exclusive program for Verizon enterprise customers and participation is by invitation only.”
What do you all think? I mean, it makes complete sense if you think about it. It won’t be “unusual” for Verizon to pick up the PlayBook.
Here’s why
Well its officially been confirmed that Sprint will be launching a 4G version. Sprint, just as Verizon are CDMA Networks. If CDMA tablets are being manufactured already (for Sprint), it would be economically efficient to have a mass amount produced. Reaching a fine agreement to have mass amounts distributed over several vendors = a profit for RIM + the market isn’t left out. In turn, happy BlackBerry customers.
Looking at the coverage map below, you can see coverage is pretty much spread out evenly throughout the country. Yes the Sprint map says 3G and the PlayBook will be released to function on 4G. It doesn’t mean the tablet wont’t run on 3G . As of now 4G is only in a select few, so no map is provided. I live in a non 4G area and plenty of girls around here run around with Evos, without 4. If both CDMA carriers were to pick up the PlayBook, they would be evenly distributed across the nation. My question is, are you ready for a PlayBook invasion?
Keep in mind these are only CDMA versions.The GSM network plays a huge rule in telecommunications, captivating high levels of market share. Remember, whenever we are dealing with market share, customers are involved. Good job RIM, for never making your products impossible to use, regardless of who your provider is.
