RIM’s Shares Rise After Announcement OS10 on Schedule

Research In Motion stock rose 9% today, after the company announced carrier testing by 50 wireless carriers around the world, on time and on schedule.  Heins had promised that October would be the month that carrier testing would begin, and RIM kept it’s promise on the last day of the month.

“I’m very pleased to confirm that we have passed a critical milestone in the development of our brand new mobile computing platform,” CBS News quoted Heins, as saying.

“This process will continue in the coming months as more carriers around the world formally evaluate the devices and our brand new software,” he added.

Heins also stated that BlackBerry 10 remains on track for release in the first quarter of 2013, and carriers’ response to BlackBerry 10 has been “tremendous” and testing will continue over the course of the next few months, as even more carriers evaluate the new platform.
