R-TEM Solutions Announces New GEO-FENCING Capabilities for BlackBerry

Along with all of the great announcements that came out of the BlackBerry World 2011 conference that just ended, R-TEM Solutions announced some new GEO-FENCING capabilities for BlackBerry.

Basically this new module will allow BlackBerry® administrators and users to set up different geographical parameters to track and monitor their devices when entering or leaving certain locations.

GEO-FENCING adds another layer for inventory tracking and costly roaming situations, including domestic roaming that can have a negative effect on telecom budgets. It warns the user if they are entering an area that is more costly, and alerts the company when certain mobile devices are not in their defined area, or if they have been lost or stolen.

“One out of every six Americans suffers from Bill Shock,” said Anomalous Networks CEO Dan Rudich. “That translates into 30 million subscribers in America alone suffering from unexpected and costly overages on their telecom bills. Telicost offers BlackBerry smartphone users a remedy to Bill Shock by notifying them in real-time about their usage. In addition, our new GEO-FENCING module provides an extra cushion to give BlackBerry smartphone users the ability to track their device location at all times. Not only does this allow companies to gain a better understanding of device usage and overages, but GEO-FENCING ensures company devices are not misused.”

BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet users will also be able to load the Telicost-Mobile App and view their fleet of mobile devices directly from the PlayBook.
