BlackBerry Bold 9700 Supports 32GB SDHC Card

Today in the mail I received a 32gb micro sdhc card that I ordered last week. Not too long ago the 32gb came out for BlackBerry leaving hungry 16gb users ready for more. Don’t be the joke of the conversation anymore when 32gb iphone users use the, “oh well I have 32gb, what do you have?” I decided to take pictures of the unboxing so everyone can see that a BlackBerry device is subjective to support a 32gb sd card. This is the only BlackBerry model I have inserted the media card in, so I cannot confirm if every device supports it.

In the photo above I am replacing the old 16gb media card, for the new 32gb sdhc media card. To do this, simply flip your device over, using your thumbs slide the battery cover down with slight pressure to unlock it. Then with one of your fingers press the already inserted media card in, as if it were a button.Once it clicks, that means  it’s loose. Take it out and the new Media Card is ready to be inserted.Insert it the same way.Push the card in until you feel and hear a slight click.

Once you put the battery cover back on your device you are now ready to check and see if your device supports the card. The first good sign is when you get the confirmation message that says,”Media Card inserted. All media files on the Media Card will be automatically added to the Media Library.” Step number 2 is to go to Options/Memory/Scroll down. Displayed is how much memory you have eaten up, and how much free space you have left. Clearly my device recognized the new media card and I now have 31.2gb free to use.

Last but not least I went ahead and used a micro sd card reader to transfer the 7.5gb of info I had on my 16gb onto my new 32gb card.  7.5gb worth of info takes around 8 minutes.

So that wraps up this session here. I don’t think I will be using all of the 32gbs on this card, but at least I know I have great flexibility in installing and saving as many articles as I want onto my BlackBerry device. Let us know if you get a 32gb Media Card and what device are you going to use it on?
