BlackBerry A-Series To Be Called The Z30?

BlackBerry Z30

Through the series of leaks we’ve seen in recent weeks, the BlackBerry A-Series has been generally referred to as the A10. However, files found in the latest leaked OS suggest that the device will, in fact, be called the Z30.

When high-res images of the device leaked, we saw “BlackBerry Z00” written behind the phone’s rear cover, hinting that it would be marketed as a Z device, with the zero’s there as placeholders. Z30 is definitely plausible as a final name, but truthfully it’s difficult to say just what BlackBerry’s reasoning is behind the name. The Q5 was 5 below the Q10, so many figured it would be logical for the A-Series to be 5 above the Z10 – it seems BlackBerry thought otherwise.

Along with this name, the OS also contains six tutorial videos for the Z30. One of the videos reveals a new dropdown menu on the home screen, while another confirms that the rear cover will have to be removed to access the microSIM and microSD cards – a strange touch on a device with a non-removable battery. Have a look at them for yourself below.
