BBM Beta for BlackBerry 10 update brings new features

BBM Logo

BBM for BlackBerry has an update available via BlackBerry Beta Zone, bringing new features including support for 50 member groups, 100 new emoticons and more!

Only available for select users, BlackBerry seems to be hard at work with BBM, which is nice to see. This update sits at 10.3.2.16 and brings the following updated features and new ones including:

  • Faster, easier ways to share pics, voice notes, files and attachments from Dropbox. Even allow BBM contacts to view your location for a limited time.
  • We’ve made it easier than ever to find friends on BBM with suggested contacts
  • Over 100 new emoticons to help you make your point
  • Make your group a little larger. BBM Groups now allow you to have up to 50 participants (formerly 30)
  • Worried about spamming your contacts? You’ll now be able to block 3rd party apps from automatically updating your status.

Remember, use the BlackBerry Beta Zone app on your BlackBerry 10 app to update the app. Updating may cause a few issues such as deletion of your conversations, so be sure to have them backed up if you’re really concerned about your conversations. Check the known issues here. Let us know if you’re one of the lucky ones to receive the update!

There are reports that this update is not playing nice with the leaked OS 10.2.1.1055 so if you happen to be invited to the program and are running this OS be careful as you may end up with no working BBM. If you have a non-working BBM, revert back with the following link (sideloadable BAR file):

BBM 10.2.1.27

Keep up the good work, BlackBerry.
