Press Release: LONDON – April 10, 2013, Viber, the leading mobile communications platform offering free messaging and HD-quality phone calls, announces today the release of a beta version of Viber for BlackBerry 2.4, bringing free voice calls to BlackBerry users for the first time.

Voice calling has been a much anticipated feature on BlackBerry, and Viber originally previewed the feature in January. Now the company is delivering on its promise, providing the millions of BlackBerry users around the world with free voice calls along with the powerful messaging features they already enjoy. The company is releasing a beta version of the release in order to bring the new feature to users as soon as possible, and in order to enhance the app ahead of a full release.

Voice calling is not available on BlackBerry OS 6 due to inherent limitations of the operating system.

Importantly, unlike BBM, BlackBerry users can communicate for free, whether via free calls or free text messages, with users of all other Viber platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc.

“BlackBerry is one of the most important markets for us and represents our third largest user base. We are thrilled to bring this community free voice calling, letting them communicate freely with all of their important contacts across multiple platforms,” said Talmon Marco, Viber’s CEO.
