Time to “Escape” and add some “Bliss” to your Blackberry – 2 premium themes from NayNays Berry Themes

Review by Hamsterwheel and JayDee

Everyone is disappointed with the lack of TB7 for themes for the new BlackBerry OS7 devices, and we’ve seen a significant drop in the number of themes being released for the OS6 and OS5.  With that being said, I want to remind developers that there are quite a lot of users still on the these platforms.  So it’s a welcome surprise that there are still themes being made for OS6 and OS5.  These 2 themes were just released by Shonae Jones of NayNays Berry Themes, and they are a great find!  They are simple, yet functional, and with cool designs featuring custom battery and signal meters, hidden OCD, and hidden docks.  Read more to Escape the news about TB7, and put some Bliss back into your BlackBerry.

Default Home Screen for Escape

This is Escape.  The clock is a word clock, which though been done before, is good to see again.  I like the looks of it, it’s different.   Both the clock and notifications are on a semi-transparent double banner that allows for great wall paper viewing.  On the top right you have a short transparent banner that has the network information and the date.  Again, the date is in word format, which hasn’t been done often and is a cool idea.   Custom signal meter in the form of a number is super imposed on the banner.  Below that you have 4 hot spot icons that include B (browser), M (messages), P (pictures), T (text).  These are not user customizable, but most ppl use these functions a lot anyway.  You can hide these hot spots with $ and show with *

This theme does take you away from all the bad news.  I was getting a little depressed about the lack of themes lately and was excited about finding this little gem.  Something new was needed to ‘escape’ the negatives around here.  My Bold is happy.  I’m happy.   The OCD slot is on the top left and can be hidden or shown with +/-.   There is no “dock” but really a lot of the times (ok most of the time) I usually just hit the bb menu button to take me to app screen.  It’s easier sometimes with themes that require too many button to push to get to the dock.

App Screen for Escape

The app screen uses a pale shade of blue that is pleasing to the eye and that blends away.  The menu’s are semi transparent black, with blue highlights.  The highlight bars for msg lists and options etc is a very pale shade of pink.  But don’t let that stop you guys!  I’m not a pink fan at all, but this is so light it’s actually cool.  And besides.  Real men can wear pink:-).

Escape is just that.  In a time when we need it the most.  It runs smooth and has a great design that will look good with any wall paper.

Another sparkling gem in a somewhat tarnished BlackBerry crown is Bliss. Bliss is an extremely wallpaper-friendly theme that features a 6 mini icon dock that is hideable and a hideable OCD slot as well.

The home screen of Bliss has large numeral battery and signal meters. The clock and date are unobtrusive to your wallpaper, yet are still large enough to be visible and easy to read. The notification banner has subtle thin lines to accent the home screen. The greatest feature of the home screen is the 6 mini icon dock in the lower right-hand corner. It is hide able with -/+.

The OCD slot is placed in the middle of the screen on the left. While the placement could be better, the fact that the icon is hide able with * and show with $. The home screen also has shortcuts for Clock options and Manage Connections with the clock and the signal meter. The apps screen is a gradient steel blue with a white focus icon. Easy contrast that is classy. Menus are blue with black highlights. Again, easy to read and nicely done.

Look at these screen shots. I find this theme to be very adaptable to any wallpaper. And able to be dressed up in a frilly way or sedate like the men may prefer. I think this clever developer has super ideas for BlackBerry themes and am I so glad we discovered her work. Bliss brings you some inner peace and happiness in a time when everyone else is considering jumping ship.

Purchase either one (or BOTH!) of these gems by NayNay Themes here:

Bliss for $1.99
Escape for $1.99  Themes this adaptable are well worth the small price.

A big shout out to Shonae for releasing these on Mobihand so we can all enjoy them.
