Official OS 7.1.0.912 For BlackBerry Bold 9900 From T-Mobile

Here’s some good news for anyone with a T-Mobile 9900 today. Looks like they have began pushing out a software update to Bundle 2508 v7.1.0.912. As of right now this update appears only available for T-Mobile customers and it is still in the process of getting pushed to everyone so keep checking your “Software Updates” section or through Desktop Manager for the update.

RIM’s Co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis step down

WSJ is reporting that Jim Balsillie & Mike Lazaridis have stepped down as CEO’s  of RIM. According to reports, the CEO for now is Thorsten Heins who will in fact, will be the person involved with BlackBerry 10 agreements with other manufactures. Thorsten Heins is currently the Chief Operating Officer, Product Engineering at Research In Motion. Thorsten oversees the BlackBerry smartphone portfolio world-wide. Prior to joining RIM in 2007, Thorsten held several positions in the wireless arena including the Chief Technology Officer of Siemens’ Communications Division and several general management positions in Hardware and Software businesses.

Jim Tobin, Senior VP for Software and Business Services Leaves RIM

It’s been reported that Jim Tobin, Senior VP for Software and Business Services has left the company Research in Motion (RIM). Jim is also responsible for RIM’s marketing to enterprises and the cloud services platform. Jim joined RIM in 2010, making his stay at RIM short but his track work at RIM will always be remembered. For those wondering, Jim was well involved in the BBM Music development process. It’s still unclear who will take over as Senior VP for Software and Business Services.

RIM and Tech Data Announce Distribution Agreement for BlackBerry Solutions Targeted at Small to Mid-Sized Businesses in the U.S.

TDMobility Operated through Tech Data and Brightstar Joint Venture to Offer Value-Added Resellers a Single Source for BlackBerry Devices, Software and Support Services Waterloo, Ontario and Clearwater, Florida – Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) and Tech Data Corporation (NASDAQ: TECD) today announced a new agreement that enables Tech Data to distribute BlackBerry® devices, software and technical support services to its channel of over 60,000 value-added resellers in the United States. The agreement also allows Tech Data to support the end-to-end sale of BlackBerry solutions for small to mid-sized businesses through Tech Data’s new TDMobility offering operated by ActivateIT, a Tech Data and Brightstar Corp. joint venture company. “This agreement opens up new channels for BlackBerry solutions targeted at small to mid-sized businesses in the U.S.,” said Derek Peper, Vice President, Enterprise Sales and Strategic Partnerships at Research In Motion. “RIM is also pleased to support the innovative TDMobility offering through this new relationship with Tech Data – an offering that supports the end-to-end sale of BlackBerry solutions, from devices and software through to training and technical support. QNX Phones Will Make or Break RIM!

A moment ago, I watched a video reviewing an Android Ice Cream Sandwich device. For those who don’t know what that means, it’s a new OS for Android devices that will be released very soon. It’s supposed to bring the Android phones & tablets together to one central user interface, much like the iPad/iPod Touch/iPhone all look & and operate the same. In the race for mobile domination or just mobile sustenance in general, the phones & tablets must be equally powerful or they must project the idea of being worth the purchase when compared to the next option; as with all products. We need to have better phones & apps than the iPhone or Android and our tablet needs to at least be on par with the others…

BlackBerry Torch Spotlight

I know that the BlackBerry Torch is a year old at this moment but, I felt the need to give it some credit for it’s accomplishments. The BlackBerry Torch was the first “real” touch screen device for RIM. It was the first device to be released with BlackBerry 6 as a native OS and it was the first slider BlackBerry. Why does any of this matter? Look at today’s Berrys and tell me where they got their spark. BB7 is based off of BB6. The 9810-60 series devices are all Torch brands. The acquisition of Torch Mobile to build the webkit browser was the real beginning but, for sake of devices being the key factor in all of this, we’ll just say that the 9800 pioneered the new age for future BlackBerry devices. Video Review: LinkedIn

Linked In is a very social business tool used by many self-employed, home employed or generally employed people. Corporations use it to bring in new talent while some of us use it as a marketing tool. Mike recently added the “In” button to the page and that gave me the push I needed to join Linked In and publish this article. I’m very connected when it comes to social networks and Linked In is just another site that knows my name & email address. With that being said, I would like use Linked In for much more than another social website.
