FREE BlackBerry Scrappy Theme 0.1. / Weather Slot

Greetings members, one of blackberryempire.com‘s very own members matecurkovic has developed his own theme and would like to share it with the rest of us. He calls the this theme ‘Scrappy Theme 0.1. / Weather Slot’ and it is FREE to download. I have it running on my Bold 9700 and let me tell you, it is smooth. I forgot to ask which devices support the theme, but most of the time devices 8900/9630/9650/9700 running OS 5.0 all share the same theme. Scrappy Special Features:

CardStar for BlackBerry App Review

Do you have all these annoying key tag cards that you need in order to check in at the gym or library?  Or how about the discount key tags for your local supermarket or sports stores?  Yeah, I do too and they bug me more than you can imagine.  I thought when I found this little wallet holder for them that my problem was solved.  In all honesty it was just one more thing to have to carry around.  After browsing the BlackBerry App World (can also be downloaded by going to www.mycardstar.com) , I ran across an app called CardStar.  I cannot tell you how excited I got when I read what this app supposedly did.  It has a pre-loaded list of stores (all of mine were listed save one) as well as an option to add your own for things like local libraries and gym memberships.  Really?  An app that would get these annoying things off my keys?  To top it all off it’s a free app.  I downloaded it immediately.  It took me a few minutes to load all of my cards info into the app and when I was done I had this: Continue Reading for More >>>

BlackBerry Messenger Updated To 5.0.1.38

RIM has yet another release for us tonight. It is the official  BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.1.38. Pick up the new version over at mobile.blackberry.com ,or click this link directly from your BlackBerry browser. Currently, there is no change log yet, but the previous release had some tweaks and bug fixes, so we can guess that the newer version will be much smoother. I have installed it already and it is running notably quicker. Other than that, what do you notice different?

Webkit Browser and OS6 Video Rundown

We just got a hold of some great footage provided by Salomondrin. He has posted 3 new videos of the new BlackBerry WebKit browser running the acid 3 test comparison. He also compares the older BlackBerry browser next to the iphone and Android Browser. Overall, the vids provide great insight on the new Browser. One of the videos flaunts the new media center, which is just awesome. The title scrolling is enabled and the layout is captivating. The acid 3 browser test is quite responsive running on 3G.  In comparison to the other devices, the BlackBerry holds up well. The iphone 4 scored 185 points, HTC Droid at 151 on 2.1, older BlackBerry browser 1 point. The new WebKit browser reached 208 points out of 300. I’m really liking these new changes that have been made to the BlackBerry platform. There has been concern with the BlackBerry browser and critics believe that it ‘under performs.’ Not anymore! These videos should turn skeptics into BlackBerry believers! See for youself below. Old v. New Browser   click here to view in mobile Continue Reading for More >>>

Free BlackBerry 8520/8530 da Vinci Theme

I came across this da Vinci Theme for the BlackBerry 8520/8530 series. It looks pretty sweet, and the icons are unique. The NES style controller for the Games folder is awesome and the signal meter and battery display have an uncommon cool look. Unfotunately, i’m running a BlackBerry Bold 9700, so I am unable to test it out. If you are BlackBerry 8520/8530 user, test this out and submit your screenshots to the  forum so we we can get a better glimpse of the entire theme! The da Vinci Theme for the BlackBerry 8520/8530 series can be download HERE directly from your stock BlackBerry browser. Let us know what you think, don’t be a stranger show us more pictures of the theme!

Facebook for BlackBerry Version 1.8.0.31 “BETA”

The leaked BETA version 1.8.0.31 of Facebook for BlackBerry has hit the Internet already. Currently, it is out in test form in the closed Beta Zone. RIM, unfortunately has not included Spanish-language support and the required files are not included yet. To operate it is necessary you need a keycode, but we have a trick that will allow stakeholders to make use without it, and alternate way. 1. Users should have the official version of Facebook for BlackBerry installed. 2. Download and install the leaked version. 3. After installation, it will tell you to restart. Select NO. 4. Press the End Call button (Red). 5. Locate the Facebook icon and enter the application. 6. Accept the terms in order to access the application. 7. Now when you are running, open the menu and click Options in the logout. 8. Open the application again and set your login to enter Facebook. 9. Restart your BlackBerry once the app has successfully logged. 10. You must already have version 1.8.0.31 running without the keycode. *** We are not responsible for any error / flaw that this procedure or the application itself may have on their computers, it is always advisable to backup before using Beta versions ***   Don’t forget to share on Facebook and Twitter! Let us know what you like/dislike about the new Beta version of FB. To download the Beta version, click here >>> Facebook for BlackBerry v1.8.0.31 There seems to be a problem with the link. It was working on Tuesday the 13th*, Do not worry, here is an alternate solution! For those who have problems with the download link, here sre the CODs for the installation via SD or Desktop Manager. BlackBerry Curve 9300 Prototype, T-Mobile Branded

It looks like another device will be joining the BlackBerry family in the near future . A new unannounced BlackBerry has popped up and will be a member of the Curve line. The BlackBerry 9300 should have Curve enthusiast happy because the sporty new BlackBerry has wi-fi and will support the optical trackpad as well. As of now, this prototype is  running 3G (European Bands), but by the T-Mobile marking, we can generalize that the 9300 should be expected to hit North America soon. Not too many upgrades have been done to the device, but the upgrades that were made will satisfy users . New media control keys on the top of the device, so when you’re out getting your exercise or just jamming out, you can conveniently control all of your music. The 9300 captured on video is running the latest OS 5.0, so the new OS6 on the new device is still questionable. Check out the video below to see more features the BlackBerry 9300 has to offer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZDja4b8g80&feature=player_embedded Continue Reading for more Photos!
