With the latest generation BlackBerry 7 devices such as the Bold 9900/9930 being 4G connected we have the luxury to download, stream, and browse at high speeds. However, if you want to be faster, its going to cost you. The opportunity cost to having the thinnest, fastest BlackBerry on the market is battery life. Face it, no matter which new OS is released, battery life is ALWAYS an issue. With that, comes Seidio to the rescue with the new Innocell 3000mAh Extended Battery for the Bold 9900/9930. They’re on deck and have sent us one for us to review just for you. Let’s dig in!
For starter lets go over what we’re working with. The original battery that comes equipped for the Bold 99xx series is a JM1 1230 mAh. Give or take, the stock 1230 mAh battery will give the average 99xx user about 6.6 talk time hours. Heavy BlackBerry users who stream, download, browse, message and talk are looking at roughly 5 hours of battery life before going into the red. Considering you are a BlackBerry user, its most likely for a good reason. Whether you use it for work, school, communication, we all know a bad battery is bad for business. I can’t count the times my battery died on me during an important time, forcing me to carry my wall charger around everywhere looking like those Apple and Android users. I’m sure you have horrid battery stories yourself. Well save them because Seidio’s Innocell 3000mAh Extended Battery is a winner.
It’s 3000mAh capacity delivers hours upon hours of precious battery life, keeping you connected to every situation big or small. Having used the Innocell Extended battery for a few days I can now report my findings. After going through the break-in process, which I will go over next, i’m averaging 15+ hours of battery life on my 4G BlackBerry 9900 running on T-Mobile USA. Mind you, I do A LOT on my device so I’m really giving the battery a run for its money. From emailing, messaging and calling to browsing, downloading and streaming, my device is constantly being used. After breaking it in, I was able to comfortably use my device in peace. For the average or even light BlackBerry user, you can easily go on for over 24 hours without needing a charge.
Before you get started on the Seidio Innocell 3000mAh extended battery there are a few things to take note of. Just as any battery, it needs to be broken in. Here’s how you do it with this particular battery courtesy of Seidio.
In order to obtain the full capacity of your Seidio battery, we highly recommend that you leave the battery/your phone on the charger for an additional 2-3 hours after the charging indicator turns green or the battery status shows full. Continue for 5-6 charging cycles for optimal performance.
Due to the OEM device levels the software is programmed to spew out a 0-100% battery life scale which parallels to the OEM 1200 mAh battery. You will notice your battery level decrease even down to about 10-20%, roughly getting out of the yellow state into the red. Don’t be alarmed, its the the original battery level settings doing what its job, measuring at a 1200 mAh capacity. There is still plenty of juice left in the tank so as you use the battery more, you will get the hang of how it reacts to your device.
To conclude, the Innocell is a winner and everything you need when it comes to having a long lasting battery. It allows you to stay on top of all calls, messages and alerts at ease. Get yours today here!
