After a terrible week in the market, Research in Motion announced today that along with releasing the new Bold Touch smartphone in the summer, as well as a new video chat application for the BlackBerry PlayBook, that they are working out the details of acquiring mobile device management company Ubitexx.

This is exciting news as we continue to follow the trail of acquisitions that RIM has been blazing over the past year, trying to piece together exactly what to make of it all. This could actually be an acquisition that may contribute, in part, to their enterprise Voice Over WiFi plans as well as more developed and integrated enterprise solutions. It seems that RIM is not slowing down any time soon in the enterprise world.

*UPDATE* It seems that this goes hand in hand with not only the VoWiFi plans for RIM but their cross platform integration of BES (as we reported earlier) on Android and iOS devices. It will be interesting to see how those devices will be managed and if QNX plays a vital role in merging the possibilities of both platforms into one solid OS supported by BlackBerry devices. Let’s see how this further develops.
