RIM Launches Free Cloud Based BlackBerry Management Center for SMBs

According to reports, RIM has released its BlackBerry Management Center which appeals to securing mobile device management service to small and medium size businesses (SMBs).  As of now, RIM is offering the cloud based BlackBerry Management Center for free.

In short, the solution functions as a kind of BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) light, and is aimed at SMBs who might hesitate at paying in full for BES . The new cloud-based offering is designed for companies with up to 100 BlackBerry devices to maintain mobile security and access their Web-based email accounts via remotely accessed RIM servers.

“We are pleased to introduce RIM’s latest cloud service designed specifically for small businesses,” Alan Panezic, vice president of enterprise product management for RIM, said in a press release. “BlackBerry Management Center is a free service and an effective way to centrally manage and support employees’ BlackBerry smartphones in the cloud.”

Users  of the new Management Center can back up data as well as locate a lost BlackBerry, lock it, and even remote wipe any sensitive information stored on one found to have been compromised, something that BES offers.
