It’s been 12 days since the BlackBerry Z3 went up for sale across major retailers such as Flipkart and The Mobile Store. However, a report coming in from The Economic Times suggests the initial stock of the BlackBerry Z3 has sold out.

Industry insiders predict the imported number of Z3’s to have been around 30,000.  Himanshu Chakrawarti, chief executive at The Mobile Store, told the Economic Times that they have sold 75% of their initial stock, also adding that the Z3 has done well, benefiting from easy instalment options and discounts.

“We’ve sold about 75 per cent of the stock that we got. The Z3 has done well so far, benefiting from the easy instalment options and discounts.” – Himanshu Chakrawarti, chief executive, The Mobile Store

Considering this is the lowest costing BlackBerry 10 device at launch, I’m not at all surprised by this positive reception. BlackBerry has also aggressively promoted the ability to run Android Apps and I’m assuming the retailers have been aware of this and have used it to draw potential customers in, including the attractive offers and discounts for new customers.

Chennai-based retail chain UniverCell’s founder Satish Babu said the Z3 sales have been reasonable and the device gives an option for people carrying older BlackBerry devices to upgrade.

These are young days, I believe word of mouth and positive sales pitches from retailers will sustain the sales growth. The Indian public sound pleased and if this continues, this could well be as big of a hit like BlackBerry witnessed for the BlackBerry Curve series.
