Poll: #TeamBBM What does you contact list look like?

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is the heart and soul of a BlackBerry (aside from security). I would argue that the reason RIM has been able to stay afloat is because of BBM. I consider BBM to be a live social network. Unlike FaceBook, for example, if a friend updates a status, you can instantly talk about it. You know they read the message which can help keep the conversation going. Furthermore, you can frequently update your status without spamming someone’s news feed. And lastly, if your bored at 3AM and update your status, you don’t have to worry about waking them up with a message (text messaging can be a guessing game with questions like “I wonder if the person is sleeping already…”). What I have noticed over time is how differently people use BBM. For some, they’ll just add ANYONE, their pin is a free for all, posted publicly on twitter, etc. And others like to keep things more exclusive. With BBM going social, apps like Wikitude and BBM Music allow strangers to send you pin requests. I personally don’t add anyone I don’t know in person (though rarely do I add them and when I do, it is because I either intend on meeting that person or have some type  of relationship with them. I have even gone to the extent of separating contacts by location (since I’ve moved around a bit) and/or how I met them (certain jobs and family).

How do you use your BBM? Let us know in the poll below:
