Despite all the problems that Research In Motion had with the United Arab Emirates regarding it’s encrypted servers, the PlayBook was previewed at a VIP event in Dubai, UAE.

A banner declaring “You should have waited” was beside flashing images of the different models of the PlayBook at the debut, but it is unknown whether the tablets will be priced the same as in North America.

This is a huge move for RIM who has been lackluster in North America, but entering Middle Eastern nations is a huge step in entrenching BlackBerry devices worldwide.

Sandeep Saighal, managing director for the Middle East, RIM, made a special appearance at the VIP preview but kept his welcome short. Despite the missing favourite features on PlayBook, Saighal pledged that the tablet is “going to change the way you do business… this is just a small teaser, the best is yet to come.”

He said that entry of PlayBook into the international tablet market has marked “a new era for RIM.” – gulfnews.com
