Great news to all BlackBerry Messenger users as version 7.0.0.126 is rolling out to users, if it does not show now, be patient.

Here are some other great features you’ll love in BBM 7:

  • Multi-tasking with Split-screen feature – Customers can do more while they talk, such as check other BBM text chats, check email, or navigate to other apps while engaged on a BBM Voice call. They can start a call in an instant, and switch between texting and talking, or text and talk at the same time. They can also for example, send a picture to a contact while they are talking with them.
  • Clear Visual Indicator – Customers can see when contacts are available for a voice call.
  • Convenient Compatibility with Accessories – Customers can use their favorite accessories, such as a Bluetooth® or wired headset, or use the BlackBerry smartphone’s speakerphone.
  • 16 New Emoticons – Available in the final software released today, customers will see a slate of new emoticons offer them fresh, fun ways to express themselves in text chats.
  • Direct BBM Update Notification – BBM will now notify a customer when there is an update from within the app, and allow them to download it immediately from inside the app.
  • Simple BlackBerry ID Synchronization – A customer’s BBM profile, Groups and Contacts are now linked to their BBID for easy backup and restore. The data will also carry over when they move to BlackBerry 10.

BBM 7 with BBM Voice is now available for all BlackBerry smartphones running the BlackBerry 6 OS or higher. BBM Voice will also be available for BlackBerry OS 5 early next year. BBM Contacts must also be on BBM 7.0 and connected to Wi-Fi to have a BBM Voice chat.

A lot of guys who have been testing it out in Beta Zone since November approve of it. Audio quality is great, its convenient and if you thought BBM doesn’t get any better well there it is.

      hi tung, i tried to update my bbm 5.0 into version 7.0 but its not working. i deleted the old version and have been downloaded the 7.0 but the old version 5.0 still existing.. iam using curve 8900 and i dont know if the latest version of bbm is applicable to my fone. do you have any idea about this? im wondering if i need to update my app world into 4.0, but dnt know how to do it.

    Hi blackberry, I have a problem. I downloaded the new blackberry messenger and I own the blackberry bold 9900 and when I did download it, my icon has no dissapeared, help me!?

            If you are attempting to connect with another blackberry that phone must also have the latest bbm version, it must be currently connected to wifi and u must open a bbm chat. See my post on January 18th.

    Hi, I have a blackberry 8520 & I’ve upgraded my app world & it isn’t showing I’m trying to find it & I can’t download it anywhere…
    My friend also has the same blackberry as me & he has been able to download it, what to do?!

      Hey dude, BBM 7 is only support OS6 or OS7, if you want BBM 7 with OS5, you can download it in Blackberry Beta Zone, but you must sign up first, if you won’t to join, you have to wait for the new bbm 7 for os 5 :) , sorry for my bad english :)

      Mine disappeared and discovered that the Wi Fi was not covering where i was, and as soon as I moved closer to the Wi Fi router, it appeared again.

        I have the same problem with my bold 9900. I tried several battery pulls, reinstalling and wifi or mobile network. Nothing seems to help and I cannot connect to the server for 6 days now.

          That’s problem like my davis 9220. I download app world and give me problems. Bbm not connect bbm Id….and temporary server error…downgrade version to v 6 make me find bbm contact again but bbm group still error. In bbm group, my friend says that my status is ‘unreachable’

      How did everybody fix the problem of associating bbm with bb id? Not working for me either, tried restarting and uninstalling, taking out battery etc. Using a curve 9360

    i have a friend who did the upgrade to 7 on her bb and now she cant access any of her messages, she can see that they’re there but they will not open for her. also she cant send invites or receive them….solution??

    It seems that once you upgrade to BBM 7.0, the bbm icon on your device will disappear….app world will show installed status but icon cannot be found anywhere….

    Solution:
    Remove BBM from Application Manager and restart. Then open blackberry.com/messenger from you device browser and install bbm (i installed 6.2 instead of 7.0) and it will work like a charm…not sure what caused app world to show incorrect status…hope this helps.

    I downloaded bbm 7 and its been loading for a week saying “associating bbm with your blackberry I’d” how do I get it to load and work. If not can I degrade it to old bbm. Never had a blackberry got it for christmas and I have set up I’d and everything. It came preloaded and worked with old bbm but I downloaded new bbm straight away. I have a bb torch incase that helps?

    Running bb torch and have latest bbm version. I cannot make voice work. Repeatedly says voice connection cannot be established. I have been in a variety of wine-first environments. – 3 airports, a hotel, work and home. No luck.

    I have the latest Version but every time I tap on the telephone icon in an open bbm chat, it tells me “your voice chat connection cannot be established, and yet I am connected to a Wi Fi.
    Any ideas as so why I can not connect?

    This reply also refers to my early post, I have resloved my issues, this may help you as well:
    - your device and the device you wish to connect to must have the latest version of BBM installed (7.0XXX), requires a restart and acceptance
    - both devices must be simultaneously connected to Wifi
    - you must open a chat in BBM first
    - if the above conditions are met, you will see a green phone icon in the right hand corner of the screen, this indicates that the person you wish to call is connected to Wifi and can receive a call, when they are not the icon will appear as grey
    - in the case of touch screen, touch the green icon to initiate a call, it may take a sec to begin calling
    - in the case of a touch screen, touch the screen where it indicates an incoming BBM call, it may take a sec to answer
    - has worked on home and work Wifi, i havent tried a free Wifi location yet
    - good sound quality, a neat feature

    To all people who go this error message.

    “Associating BBM with your blackberry ID”

    This is not an error message. Its actually pending processing message just saying that you need to get/purchase/subscribe for a BBM Service through your Local Service Provider. Please be informed that BBM cannot be used though Wi-Fi alone. It needs a subscription (with fees but not too much) to avail such service.

    After having already connected to your service provider, restart your hand set to let your signal refresh. You will notice that on the upper right (where the signal is located) the word “EDGE” in capital letter appears. That means you are now connected and able to use BBM! A vertical arrow, which goes up and down, blinks, telling you that updates are on-going from time to time.

    Please also be informed to turn on your “Device Services” under Network Settings. If you still fail to have it.

    I suggest all to turn off this “Device Services” wherever you are not using the service. This will not let your battery drain too much.

      How about for BB 9860? My current BBM version is 6.2, and when I check the upgrade apps on My world. there is no available upgrade to BBM 7.0, is there any solution? Your feedback is highly appreciated.

      This upgrade is not available in UAE. Before I left Dubai I tried several times but when I came back here in Philippines the upgrade to 7.0 is already available. I think it has something to do with their rules and regulations on VoIP just like how the skype can’t be installed when you are in UAE. I hope this helps.

    i downloaded bbm 7.0 unto my blackberry (btw i have a curve 9300) and it says BBM is asscociating with blackberry ID. and them its says try again and i have done it at least 100 times bcos i have had it since last sunday and it hasnt worked give me two solutions please.

    Right well, my BBM wasn’t working properly so I went through the process off deleting it, I reinstalled it and clicked on BBM- it come up with ‘setting up bbm’ and I waited and it didn’t work so I kept on retrying and it failed so I’ve deleted it and reinstalled it several times and now it doesn’t work at all and comes up with a blue screen, I am using a Blackberry Bold 9900.     Hi.. Welll erm basically, I got a new blackberry this morning, I’ve set up my data plan, and I had to top up £10, I got a ‘freebie’ which includes bbm. It said my I’d needed to be set up with the latest version, (bbm 7) so I updated it. But now, when I click onto my bbm, its just a pure blue screen? Help?? I’ve rebooted itt a lot, turned it on&off..and redownloaded it, I have the curve 9360.. Please help me!!
