Mistique by Hi-fxDesign is a charming theme that is sure to add some character to your BB

My usual scouting of forums and threads for new themes has paid off once again.   This one by Hi-fxDesign is cool!   I look for themes that are appealing to the eye, wall paper friendly, easy to use, run smooth with no lag, and have that “je ne sais quois” about them…and this one does.  The charm about this theme are the multiple hot keys, hidden dock, 2 hidden ocd slots, custom numerical battery and signal meters, and a hidden today.   Read on and find out the appeal of Mistique.

Default Home Screen for Mistique

When I say different, I’m not kidding.  The home screen is set up with 2 glass like panels that will “frame” your wall paper giving it a different perspective.  The battery meter is the number on the top left, and the signal meter number is on the top right.  The notifications are along the top and the clock, date and wifi along the bottom.  All with a cool font that goes perfectly with picture look of the theme.

There is one ocd slot on the top right just below the signal meter, and another just below the battery meter on the left.  Placed strategically in the panels, they make your wall paper look like a picture within a picture.  Both can be shown or hidden or show just one, whatever works for you and your background.   Use w/e for the left one and u/i for the right one.  These 2 apps are number 6 & 7 on the application menu.

The 5 icon dock couldn’t be easier to get to just use z/escape.   The apps are numbers 1-5 from the application screen.   One other thing to add is that there are also home screen hot keys to get to apps 1-5 if you don’t want to use the dock at all.  Alt 1-5 will take you to that corresponding app.    If you notice, the wall paper is slightly tinted outside the panels, which really does give it that framed picture look.  This is the je nais sais quois I was talking about. The theme itself and it’s elements are simple, yet the added touches of the glass like panel and the tinting give Mistique it’s appeal and charm.

To access the today screen, again it’s very simple.  Just use space/escape.  The application screen is grey and the icons show up well.  A custom new message indicator and glass like square (that matches the panels on the home screen) is used for the focus.  Menus have the black background with the same grey color as the app screen itself.  I’m so glad that developers are changing it up from that default blue.  That can get tiring and old.

Mistique is a well designed theme and runs very smooth without lag, which is an important bit to have along with all the other features.  A simple theme really, but with a little flair.  Easy to access all your apps and of course,  any wall paper looks great.  Mistique is a charming theme with plenty of character.  Hi-fxDesign has drafted a great theme and I hope to see more from him in the future.   Get in now on sale for $1.99 at the BBE store for Bold 9650, 9700, 9780 and 8900 for both OS 5 and OS 6.
