I’ve recently become a victim of Ghost Application Syndrome, better known as GAS. And for those of you that aren’t familiar with this type of application behavior, it occurs when an application icon disappears from your home screen. Not only that, but it gives you a hard time when trying to un install or delete it.
I recall having this issue once before with BB7 not long ago, so I decided to try it. I had no idea what happened to one of my apps this morning, so I decided to investigate…

Visit the BlackBerry World website on your PC and make sure you log in using your BBID. Once you’ve done this, go to “My World”. Make sure your phone is plugged in at this point. At the top of the page, you should see a link asking you to download BlackBerry Manager software.

Once you have the software installed on your computer, go ahead and send an uninstall link to your phone.

This should trigger BlackBerry World to open and the app to uninstall itself. However, for me, the install link fixed everything. Even though in BlackBerry World it was “Installed” this forced a reinstall and it allowed the app icon to appear on the home screen. I have a feeling this is only for those of you, much like myself, who are stuck on an older OS.

Let us know if you had this issue and if this solution worked for you.
