Some new details regarding the rumoured BlackBerry Windermere have made their way out on the Internet, revealing a device that’s sure to impress - how does a 4.5-inch screen together with an innovative new physical keyboard sound?
The screen in question will be an LCD panel with a 1440×1440 resolution, resulting in a super-sharp 453 dots per inch. Even though the screen is larger than that of the Z10, the Windermere will still pack a physical keyboard, making this by far the biggest screen that BlackBerry has ever attached to a physical keyboard. As reported previously, this keyboard is said to support gestures, which will likely allow BlackBerry to shrink its size in order to keep the device ergonomic.
That’s not the only good news however. The Windermere is also said to have an absurdly massive 3450 mAh battery. In comparison, the Z30 currently packs a 2880 mAh battery, and you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who isn’t impressed with the battery life on that. Even though this battery is significantly larger, the Windermere should actually be thinner than the Z30, and it’s even said to be “incredibly light.” It’ll also be built using a stainless steel frame with a design “inspired by modernist architecture”, which ought to make for a very premium look and feel.
As if that wasn’t enough, BlackBerry has even got a surprise in store for the photophiles among us – a 13-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization. This sounds a lot like the camera has been borrowed from the LG G2, and if that phone is any indication, this should be a pretty top-notch piece of kit.
So, to sum up, this phone sounds pretty darn exciting. If all of this rings true, will you be looking to buy a Windermere when it finally launches?
