Dear RIM: Please Separate Your PlayBook Apps in the App World

Dear RIM,

I know the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is set to launch any day now. To gear up for the launch of the BlackBerry tablet, The official BlackBerry App World has accepted a mound of PlayBook apps which is quite nice. The problem is, there is no real designated area to sort them. As of now, RIM has PlayBook apps mixed in with BlackBerry mobile apps. If you want to look for a respected app, you can search by its category, or by its name.

BlackBerry gurus and heavy users like myself hit the App World on a daily basis searching for the latest updated apps and newest apps. Everyday, new apps can be found under the “Newest items” list. There have been many instances where I see a neat app but come to find out, its only available for the BlackBerry PlayBook ( C.R.A.S.H App). The only reason I knew it was for the PlayBook is because upon downloading it for my mobile, I received an error. Below is a proposition I have for RIM. If they follow my model or implement one like it, a lot of headaches and can be saved.

You see that RIM? How hard is it to come up with two different hubs to distinguish apps? It would be wise to have separate categories so users won’t be confused not too mention it can be a real time saver. If Apple can have a website designated for the iPad, so can you RIM. So please RIM, For the sake of your customers, please separate your mobile/tablet apps in the name of sanity.

Respectfully,

Kristopher A. Alvarez
