I was seeing a lot of amazing screen shots posted of themes that Yuki developed and yet never tried them as they were only for OS5, and only available from her theme club. I did like the looks of them, so I decided to check out her blog, Yuki Desingz. It was a welcome surprise that Yuki was offering one of her best selling themes, Picto for sale and had made it for OS6. In fact, all her new themes were also going to be OS6 compatible. Well, you read Jaydee’s review of Picto, it’s an excellent theme. So yours truly decided that I wanted more of Yuki’s themes, so I joined her theme club for the month of June, and wow. It is so worth it! The one I’m going to tell you about today is Calla. It’s simple and elegant just like it’s namesake flower. Gorgeous actually. And how co-incidental that the calla lily happens to be one of my favorite flowers? The theme Calla has also become a favorite.
The simplicity of Calla is what makes it special. You have all the functions you would need in a theme, yet it doesn’t feel cluttered at all. It’s a beautiful theme and the background wall paper chosen by Yuki is a gorgeous picture of a lily. The clock and date are on a semi transparent half length banner on the bottom, and the notification area is on the top banner. Custom numbered battery meter on top left and custom numbered signal meter on the top right. The theme flows well and runs smooth, and it looks truly lovely.
Calla has a 5 icon hidden dock which is user selectable and can be accessed by z and hidden by esc. The ocd slot to the right of the banner is also hideable using + and -. The clock is a hotspot, and the signal meter is a hotspot for manage connections. $ for text messages.
The application screen has a black background nicely arranged in neat little shelves, with a pretty pale pink focus. In fact that same shade is used throughout the theme in menus and for the highlight bar. A perfect choice of color for a picture perfect theme.
However don’t let the name and pink fool you. Calla looks great with any wallpaper you choose, it doesn’t have to be “pretty” to make this theme stand out. Yuki is going to make all her themes from now on gender neutral so, even the guys will be happy. Now this theme is from the June theme club which is closed, but if you do like this theme and do want it, go to her blog, Yuki Designz, and email her and ask if you can still join! I wanted to show you another one of her works, so you know that there are other theme builders out there that are worth a look.
