BlackBerry has not ruled out a possible Phablet release for the future

CEO of BlackBerry, John Chen, spoke with the Jakarta Post’s Khoirul Amin on how he plans to turn around BlackBerry’s market share and profitability. Everything he said was pretty much what we already know, except for one thing, a Phablet.

When asked if he would consider any other device other than a smartphone for the Indonesian public, John Chen was quick to just suggest releasing a Phablet:

If we will do another thing, we will probably go to phablet. I think if you look at our strategy and if you look at where the market goes, there is definitely a good market for something between a phone and tablet.

Interestingly enough, former CEO of BlackBerry, Thorsten Heins publicly stated that the Tablet would be dead in the years to come and we all know how BlackBerry has treated the PlayBook’s fate in the last year and a half, so it’s not all surprising John Chen is considering a Phablet, as opposed to a full out 7”  or 10” Tablet.

Technically, you can consider the Z30 a phablet. The question remains, is John Chen considering an even bigger Z30 style phone? A 5.5″ Z30 on steroids would be beautiful!

It is soooo foolish of BB for not making a table based on the BB10 model. Everyone else has a tablet, just because the first attempt failed does not mean you gave up. The Playbook was is the best table ever made, just for the lack of apps. Now that android apps can be installed on BB10 there would be no excuses this time around. BB need to open their eyes and see what is going on. Come on BB show us what you got.

He needs to bring bb10 tablet and cloud for consumers. If BlackBerry can bring tablet at reasonable price, I am sure it will sell well.

Many Enterprise and Government want Tablets and Smart Phones. It would be a good idea to re-launch a super charged PlayBook powered by BB10. And a Z50 with a 5″ screen via super high specs. This will help people dump there iPhones and Androids for it.
