BlackBerry Marketing to Begin Simulated User Experience Ad Campaign on iOS and Android Next Week

We all know BlackBerry is behind iOS and Android in terms of sales but BlackBerry will be trying to get some of those users to come to BlackBerry 10 beginning next week. BlackBerry has announced that they will launch mobile ads on those other platforms that will take over their screens.

Frank Boulben, BlackBerry’s Chief Marketing Officer stated these ads will be a simulated experience about the BlackBerry 10 and will come in a couple different forms, which include banners and in-app units. The way these mobile ads will work is that they won’t open automatically, but instead open once the user clicks on it. Once open though the ad will show a BlackBerry 10 feature and ask “Does your smartphone do that? If not, visit BlackBerry10.com.”

Glad to see BlackBerry pushing hard in terms of advertising here in the U.S. since that has been a shortcoming of theirs in the past. If you have been watching some of the NCAA March Madness games the last couple of days then I’m sure you have seen many BlackBerry commercials. I just hope to see BlackBerry continue this ad campaign even after the initial launches from all the carriers here.
